Republican Andy Cargile, a School Board Trustee for the HEB School District and a retired high school principal. During Andy’s service on the HEB School Board, the school district was honored with the “Superior Achievement” rating, the highest rating given by the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. The rating is based on a Texas Education Agency review of audited financial reports of Texas school districts.
Before his retirement as an educator, Andy served for many years as a coach and classroom teacher before eventually serving as the principal of Euless Trinity High School for 10 years where he was named Just for Kids Principal Of The Year in 2007. He started the Angel Fund, which helps at-risk students stay in school, is a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association and is a mentor for the Euless Trinity High School Character Education Program.
Republican leaders, educators and elected officials were quick to endorse Andy for the Texas House, including Euless Mayor Mary Lib Saleh, Bedford Mayor Jim Griffin, HEB ISD School Board President Ellen Jones and Republican businessman Neal Adams.
Andy has been an active leader of the Hurst, Euless and Bedford community for more than 30 years. He and his wife of 45 years, Karen, have two daughters, Kristen and Kourtney, and are the proud grandparents of five grandchildren. He is an Ordained Presbyterian Elder and earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Texas A&M Commerce.
